Keep your videos short and produce more of them for greater exposure.

You only have a few seconds to capture your audience’s attention. If you are like most people, you probably get the majority of your inspiration from watching videos on YouTube. You probably also noticed that most of the popular videos are quite short. They last for about 20-30 seconds, and anything longer is generally an advertisement for another video or article. With so much information available in so many different formats, it is important to get your message across as quickly as possible. That means keeping your video script short and sweet.

Don’t forget the introduction

The introduction is the first thing your reader sees when they start watching your video. It is also the last thing you record. While many people start off with the first line of their script, it is important to include at least a brief intro. You can use the introduction to grab your reader’s attention and make them eager to proceed. You can also use it to give them a sneak peek at what they will get out of your video.

Use simple graphics

Still images can be very powerful and memorable. When used in the right way, they can help make your video much more interesting. You can also use simple graphics and charts to illustrate specific points you make in your script. While you can certainly use expensive software to make professional-looking graphics, you can also use free tools that you likely already have on your computer. You can use a program like PowerPoint or Google Sheets to make simple graphs and charts. Use an online image editor to make graphics that are related to the content of your script. Put your text on top of the images or use those images as backgrounds. You can also use online image generators to create random text and images to create more visually interesting elements.

Sum up your point at the end

When you are almost finished with your video, you can wrap up your script with a summary of your main point. This could be a combination of a few key points you made throughout the script. The summary is a chance to re-emphasize the main point of your video and leave your reader with something to take away and apply in their own life. You can end with a call to action and explain exactly how your audience can put your advice into practice.

Most people watch videos while they are doing something else, like waiting in line or riding the subway. They may only have a few minutes to spare and they will likely skip over anything that doesn’t immediately catch their attention. If you want to reach a broad audience with the information you have to share, you need to make your video as appealing as possible. This means keeping it short and sweet, and create more for your postings and website for greater exposure.

What is the purpose of your recruitment video?

Recruitment videos are an asset to your company because it gives the world the opportunity to get a ‘feel’ for what it’ll be like to work there.

Sometimes, even in a one-to-one interview, it can be challenging for a candidate to get a real sense of the company culture.

A recruitment video sets up the tone of the business from the very beginning, allowing the viewer to decide quickly whether the application is worth their time.

If the recruitment video is appealing to them, the chances of them declining a job offer are much slimmer.

Plus, it gives the organization more exposure. If everyone wants to work at your organization, it shows the business’s target market that the employees are treated well, therefore increasing the trust and resulting in more revenue.

So, recruitment videos truly do offer something for everyone.

‍For the candidate, it provides a visual representation of what it’s like to work at your company, enticing them to apply.

‍For the hirer, it reduces the number of declinations after offering a job offer, as the candidate will already know what to expect. It also takes the pressure off of them slightly, as they can use the recruitment video to refer to in their interview questions.

‍For the business, it sends a clear message to their target demographic that their employees genuinely enjoy working there. This raises the positive reputation and will gain more support through revenue with the target market.

What’s the size of your event, as this will impact the size of the crew and the cost. It’s always good to have a minimum two cameras recording, one that captures the wide shot and a roaming camera that captures a closer shot of the speaker and the crowd. Most larger locations will have a sound system that the camera crew can plug into so you can get a direct audio feed.
Get some key people to deliver a piece to camera of how much they’re enjoying the event and what value they’re getting.

Do some research and have some examples videos so that you have a good idea of what you want the end video to look like, have a recommended shot list to ensure that the camera crew capture everything that is needed for the edit.

Have several positions open at your company? You may want a video to get the word out about these opportunities. Consider how likely people are to share videos and how much information you can convey. Video helps you elicit emotion which can be a key element in encouraging someone to consider the job or to send the video to a friend who may be a perfect fit for the position.
